Big weekend for Slaney Valley

Lots of county final action going on this weekend with the table quiz, Make  model and Art finals taking place.

Slaney Valley had two teams competing in the U14 mixed quiz with the team of Aine Sinnott, Stephen Carroll, Michael O’Brien & Niall Hickey coming joint second. Also placing fourth were the team of Riona Byrne, Daniel Smyth, Jamie Doyle, Sorcha McWilliams & Killian Coleman .

We had a large contingent in the art, and were well represented in most age groups, Slaney Valley success came in the boys under 8, Jake Nolan taking first to progress to the finals at Athlone in the summer, with Conor Byrne taking second, well done lads and well done to all who represented.

The make and model competition saw huge success for Slaney Valley:

Under10 girls – 1st Roisin Carroll, 2nd Sarah Sheppard, 3rd Cara Murphy.

Under 10 Boys – 1st Michael Rooney, 3rd Eamon Murphy & 4th Warren Austin.

U12 girls – 1st Louise Osborne, 2nd Jasmine Dundon & 3rd Eimer Cowman

U12 – Boys 3rd Tom Treacy and Girls U14 – 1st Aisling Cowman.

This Make and Model success is due in no small part to all the hard work put in by all the competitors during the practice sessions we ran at clonegal, these sessions would not have been possible without the patience and diligence from the demonstrators, John Redmond, Louise & Mathieu Osborne, Barry & Niall Hickey, a huge thank you from everyone involved.
